NMHS required a site that would allow them to connect and communicate with their existing members, bolster their information capabilities, help to reach out to new perspective members interested in maritime history, and raise funds to support the cause through online commerce.
The condition of the existing web site presented a feeble, out-of-date structure, so our Initial efforts consisted of exploratory work to evaluate the target user, and architect a site structure. From there we created schematics to focus the user interface and ensure a usable experience.
The site design focused on better serving the organization's purposes, to allow the site to be a resource for their existing membership and encourage new members to join.
The new solution incorporates the Olive CMS to allow for the employees of NMHS to update their own content, and keep their membership informed of the latest news and information.
The site included a full e-commerce enabled online store, which through sales serves to generate income for the organization, helping to fund their on-going education and restoration efforts.
"Brigham Pendleton Design worked closely with us to cultivate our web site design, forming a collaborative partnership with us. He worked to gain an understanding of the fundamental nature of the National Maritime Historical Society, successfully translating it into a "visual brand" for the Internet."
